We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, your personal history, and what you hope to gain from counseling. This session is also a chance for you to ask questions and determine whether we're a good fit.

Together, we'll begin developing a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs and goals.

There is no pressure to share everything at once. Therapy is a process, and we'll move at a pace that feels comfortable and safe for you.

Yes. Willow Mental Health accepts several private insurance plans. Insurance coverage varies depending on your specific plan, so I encourage you to verify your mental health benefits before your first appointment.

Yes. Secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth appointments are available for clients throughout Idaho and Oregon.

Telehealth allows you to attend therapy from the comfort and privacy of your home, office, or another confidential location. Research has shown that virtual therapy can be just as effective as in-person counseling for many mental health concerns.

If you live near my office, you also have the option of meeting in person.

Most therapy sessions are 50–60 minutes in length.

Depending on your treatment needs, longer sessions may occasionally be recommended, particularly for specialized trauma treatment such as EMDR. If extended sessions are appropriate, we'll discuss this together in advance.

The frequency of therapy depends on your individual goals and needs.

Many clients begin with weekly sessions to build momentum and establish therapeutic progress. As symptoms improve and goals are met, appointments often transition to every other week or monthly for continued support and maintenance.

We'll regularly review your progress and adjust your schedule based on what works best for you.

It's completely normal to feel nervous or unsure about starting therapy. Many of my clients are attending counseling for the very first time.

You don't need to know exactly what to say or have everything figured out before your first appointment. My role is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can talk openly, ask questions, and move at a pace that feels right for you.

Therapy is a collaborative process, and we'll work together to help you build insight, develop practical coping skills, and move toward meaningful, lasting change.

Yes. Your privacy is very important.

Everything discussed during therapy is kept confidential in accordance with state and federal laws, as well as professional ethical standards. There are a few legal exceptions to confidentiality, including situations involving imminent risk of serious harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse or neglect of a child, vulnerable adult, or dependent adult, or when disclosure is required by a court order or other applicable law.

These limits to confidentiality will be reviewed with you during your first appointment, and you'll have an opportunity to ask any questions before treatment begins.
